I started my business with something I was actually afraid of: balloons popping.
At the time, my nephew was 7 and my niece was 4. My sister would buy balloon kits from Amazon and hand them to me, asking me to work my magic. My challenge was to make the decorations look as close as possible to the pictures on the website. At the time, it felt like a mission impossible. I had no formal training, and every balloon that popped made me jump. But without realizing it, those little projects were the beginning of my journey into event planning.
I became determined to get better. I spent countless hours watching TikTok videos, learning different balloon techniques, experimenting with designs, and slowly building my confidence. What started as something I was simply helping my family with became something I genuinely enjoyed.
Then came my niece’s fourth birthday.
For the first time, I took on the planning of an entire event. I coordinated a celebration for approximately 100 guests, from the decorations to the overall design and details. It was my first official event as a business owner, and it was the moment I realized that this could become much more than a hobby.
Since then, I have continued to educate myself and expand my skills. I am currently attending florist classes because I believe there is always something new to learn in the world of events and design. I continue to book events through word of mouth and social media.
Fortunately, I was born with what I like to call the “creativity gene.” I have always loved design, creating beautiful spaces, and bringing ideas to life. Event planning is an industry that is constantly evolving, with new trends, concepts, and possibilities emerging all the time. That keeps me inspired and motivated to continue learning and growing.
Today, I love what I do. But the best part of being an event planner is seeing the look on a client’s face when they see their vision come to life. Knowing that I helped create a moment they will remember makes all the learning, experimenting, and even those early balloon-popping fears worth it.
What began with a few Amazon balloon kits and a mission-impossible challenge has grown into a business, a passion, and a career I never expected to have.
